Things to do in Benidorm

Published: 07/03/2022

Sun, sea and sand. Benidorm has a vibrant beach and nightlife, but there’s a plethora of attractions to enjoy away from the usual sights.

  • Make the most of beach life in Benidorm
  • Go on a day trip to Guadalest
  • Enjoy a show at the Benidorm Palace
  • Have a splash in a water park
  • Cycle in the great outdoors
  • Discover one of Spain’s most thrilling theme parks
  • Venture down Tapas Alley
  • Head out to Benidorm Island

Found on Costa Blanca, Benidorm is ever popular. And it’s easy to see why. With year-round sun and a vibrant nightlife, Benidorm has plenty of appeal. But there’s much more to find. With exciting day-trips and water parks on offer, Benidorm is much more than just its beaches.

1. Make the most of beachlife in Benidorm

First on your list of what to do in Benidorm? Head to the beach, of course! Levante Beach is the place for most people’s holiday. With golden sand, parasols aplenty and a promenade packed with bars, hotels and restaurants, it’s easy to see why. It can get busy, yes, but this is the best thing to do in Benidorm for beach fun. The city, as we’re sure you know, has a thriving nightlife. With plenty of lively bars dotted around this area, you’ll never be short on choice.

info

Best for: Sunbathing
While you’re there: Searching for cheap holidays to Benidorm? We’re here to help! We recommend staying at Melia Benidorm Hotel. Just minutes from Levante Beach, you’ll be in an ideal location.

2. Go on a day-trip to Guadalest

Twenty-one kilometres west of Benidorm, Guadalest is one of the more popular tourist attractions in the area. The sixteenth-century Moorish castle town is built into the crumbling surrounding rock. You enter through a gateway tunnelled into the mountain. It’s worth visiting for the view down to the peaceful reservoir (accessible via the village of Beniarda just to the west) and across the sprawling valley.

info

Best for: An exciting day trip
While you’re there: Take a picnic and look out to the twinkling reservoir to enjoy lunch with a fantastic view.

3. Enjoy a show at the Benidorm Palace

For an evening of glitz and glam head to Benidorm Palace for a show. This is one of the most entertaining things to do in Benidorm. Enjoy a wide range of exciting events at the venue. From live music to professional dancers, there’s always an exciting show.

info

Best for: Evening entertainment
While you’re there: Choose to have a meal with your ticket, to make your evening of fun last even longer.

4. Have a splash in a water park

One of the best things to do in Benidorm is to hit the water. If you’re travelling with kids (or just want to get in touch with your inner child), you’re spoilt for choice in Benidorm. Each amusement park seems to eclipse the next: there’s the “mythical” Terra Mítica theme park (Mythic Land); the wildlife theme park Terra Natura; and the Aqualandia water park; to name just three and, well, you get the idea.

info

Best for: An exciting day in the water
While you’re there: At Aqualandia, there are plenty of places to eat on-site, so you can really make a day out of it!

5. Cycle in the great outdoors

Benidorm isn’t just sun and sand. If you’re more of the active type and want a bit of adventure, why not have a bike ride in Benidorm? There are numerous bike hire shops which all offer affordable bike rentals. Cycle past pretty flowers, cute villages and crumbling ruins on the Costa Blanca.

info

Best for: A picturesque cycle route
While you’re there: Most of the shops will offer you a route map to help you on your way.

6. Discover one of Spain’s most thrilling theme parks

Like the rush of a rollercoaster? Look no further. Terra Mítica theme park is one of the largest theme parks in the country. There are plenty of rides and rollercoasters to keep your adrenaline pumping. There are also live performances for when you’re back on the ground.

info

Best for: Adventure
While you’re there: Note that there are five themed zones in the park: Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and the Islands.

7. Venture down Tapas Alley

Hungry? Benidorm is heaving with international flavours, but if you’re looking for something a bit closer to Benidorm, Tapas Alley is the place for you. In the Old Town, head towards Calle Santo Domingo. You’ll stroll past a great selection of tapas places, with legs of jamon serrano dangling in the background.

info

Best for: Flavours of Benidorm
While you’re there: Do as the Spanish do and sip of a glass of vino tinto, a local wine.

8. Head out to Benidorm Island

Only two nautical miles off the coast sits Benidorm Island. This nature reserve offers scenic hikes and picturesque views of the mainland. Look out onto crystal-clear water and jagged crags. The uninhabited spot is home to a bar and restaurants for its regular visitors.

info
Best for: An island hop

While you’re there: Dip under water and enjoy a glass-bottom boat excursion. Look out for the vibrant local fish and flora.
